Condon Scott Architects Ltd (formerly known as Sarah Scott Architects Ltd) has been based in Wanaka for over 30 years.

Currently the practice employs eight people, with a broad range of skills and nationalities, working closely together in a studio environment. We have designed a wide range of residential and commercial projects both in the Central Otago region and further afield.

Each commission is unique and site specific and clients are encouraged to be involved throughout the design process. We offer innovative solutions to demanding sites and client briefs.

Having completed more than 500 projects in the Wanaka & Central Otago region over the past 30 years we have a wide range of experience in extreme climate, high altitude architecture including numerous ski field projects, and extensive experience with Resource Consent Applications in sensitive (outstanding visual amenity) landscapes.

The practice offers strong design based architecture and focuses on marrying client needs with sound building practises to maximise environmental and climate conditions.

Sarah Scott Architects won the NZIA Southern Architecture Award for Public Architecture for the design of the Wanaka Catholic Church.

Window Association of New Zealand National Award

The Wanaka Catholic Church project won against two other National finalists in the WANZ Awards. “Medieval Catholic churches used darkness to create religious mystery. This church is quite the opposite,” said the judges. “Curving clerestory windows flood the body of the church with light, while more contemplative spaces on either side have end windows in the form of a cross set deep externally in a coursed rubble wall. Minimal joinery either side of the sacristy enable a view of the mountains beyond.”
