Gibbston Valley Resort, Queenstown

Condon Scott Architects are the architects for the Gibbston Valley Design Studio, working on the ongoing development of Gibbston Valley Resort at Gibbston Valley Station. The 1,000-acre station is home to the existing Gibbston Valley Winery and Lodge, with the wider property now being progressively developed into a luxury resort through a series of staged developments.

Construction is currently underway on Stage One, which establishes the first part of the wider resort development. This stage includes The Reserve, comprising 33 sections with a choice of luxury house and land packages or freehold sections. The architecture for the residential component is being developed to respond to the rural character of the station and its distinctive Central Otago setting.

Stage One also includes a nine-hole golf course and clubhouse located adjacent to The Reserve, together with The Rockery, a separate area comprising 10 large freehold sections. Together, these elements begin to establish the framework for the wider resort while maintaining a strong relationship with the existing landscape and agricultural character of Gibbston Valley Station.

The Gibbston Valley Design Studio provides an ongoing architectural resource for the resort, supporting the development of individual properties and the wider masterplan as the project progresses. The staged approach allows the resort to evolve over time while maintaining consistency across the broader development.
