Nestled between Albert Town and Hāwea Flat, close to the river, this expansive new home is currently under construction in a forward-thinking, rural subdivision where energy-efficient, high-performing homes are not just encouraged, but required. Designed with sustainability at its core, this home adheres to design guidelines that minimise grid dependence, ensuring it meets the needs of both the environment and its occupants.

Our clients entrusted us with full architectural services, including interior design, to create a five-bedroom retreat that blends luxury with environmental mindfulness. Passive house principles have been considered within the design, ensuring optimal comfort through carefully considered insulation, glazing, and solar power systems. The home will maintain a consistent, comfortable internal temperature throughout the year, even as the seasons fluctuate significantly outside.

The interiors offer a modern yet homely feel, featuring sustainable materials and low-energy appliances. Earthy neutral tones and brass fittings evoke the warmth of a luxurious alpine lodge, while expansive gallery walls allow for the display of art. Large windows and a dramatic gable ceiling flood the interior with natural light, making these key spaces feel airy and open. A sheltered internal courtyard provides an inviting outdoor retreat, protected from the elements.
