Lakeside Rise, Wānaka

On a prominent lakeside site, a stone’s throw from Lake Wānaka, this two-storey residence is thoughtfully designed to embrace its stunning natural surrounds while offering complete privacy for the homeowners.

With uninterrupted views across the bay towards Mt Roy and direct access to the town’s most popular lakeside walking track, the home balances a sense of spaciousness, with seclusion. The uniquely wedge-shaped site informed the layout, optimising morning light in the kitchen and dining spaces, while screening outdoor living areas from public view.

The material palette of cedar, brick, and a distinctive curved fascia anchors the home to its environment. Inside, minimalist, modern-industrial interiors feature polished concrete floors, precast concrete walls, warm oak and cedar detailing. Designed for both everyday living and entertaining, the layout includes a ground-floor master suite and a top-level retreat, with spa and lounge areas to catch the evening sun.

Condon Scott Architects was engaged for full interior design services for this project, ensuring the exterior and interior architecture speak the same design language, creating a sense of cohesion throughout the home.
