Kent Street Apartments, Queenstown

On Kent Street, just a short walk from Queenstown town centre, these modern apartments provide low-maintenance holiday living and accommodation income for our overseas clients. The steeply sloping site, along with district plan restrictions, presented unique design challenges, which were met with a thoughtful solution: a co-joined three-story apartment block, tucked into the hillside to preserve valuable off-street parking. The structure’s gently sloped monopitch roofline maximises the site’s height potential, while maintaining a sleek, contemporary form.

The development consists of two distinct apartments: a spacious four-bedroom apartment and a separate, self-contained one-bedroom apartment, both with internal garage parking on the lower level. The larger four-bedroom apartment is designed for comfortable, contemporary living, with an open-plan layout that includes a bunkroom/study space to cater to a variety of uses. The one-bedroom apartment, ideal for guests or as a rental, offers a self-contained, yet equally modern and inviting, living environment.

The exterior combines dark brick and Colorsteel cladding; a modern aesthetic that is both durable and low-maintenance. The pop-out form creates deep overhanging eaves and balcony spaces, while ensuring privacy between the apartments. Expansive glazing and glass balustrades frame the surrounding views.

Internally, the design continues with a blend of modern luxury and comfort, where the curves of the exterior brick façade create spatial interest and visual flow. The interiors are finished with rich, dark textures and materials, adding an elegant and sophisticated feel, a chic retreat in the heart of Queenstown.
